On Friday, I received a tiny motivation in the mail. Though it doesn’t seem like what I received would be a motivation, it definitely is for me. I was awarded the Fred A. and Eva G. Simonsen Scholarship for this academic school year. I was awarded this scholarship by The School of Hospitality Business here at Michigan State University.
Scholarship Letter from The School of Hospitality Business
Since receiving a scholarship was not on my list of long term goals, you may be asking yourself, “How is this a motivator?” It’s motivation to me because in a way its a self esteem booster. At this time in my life I need to be confident and come off confident to others. By receiving this scholarship it tells me that I must be doing something right. Even though there is always room for improvement in my personal brand, resume and experience while I search for my dream job, I at least know I am headed in the right direction.
In the upcoming weeks I will be preparing for and attending Career Expo where I get to talk to recruiters from numerous hospitality businesses. I hopefully will also get to interview with companies and potentially get a job. This motivation, a.k.a. scholarship, could not have come at a better time to boost my confidence and get me going in the right direction.
Wish me luck!
